Leaf Collection Begins Next Week

Image
Happy Monday and Happy Halloween! Image Source here Image Source here I hope you had a restful weekend!  Four things today: 1. If you and the little ones are trick-or-treating tonight, here are a few neighborhood safety things I am forwarding on: Give and accept wrapped or packaged candy only. A parent or adult should accompany children when they are trick-or-treating. Carry a flashlight. Wear light-colored clothing.  Add reflective tape to dark-colored costumes.  Make sure clothing is short enough to prevent tripping. Watch for vehicle traffic. 2. Leaf Collection for the City of Raleigh begins November 7.  Find out which zone you are in and when your collection dates and times are here .  A few things to remember: Rake leaves to the back of the curb. Keep the sidewalks and roads clear for pedestrians and drivers. Do not block or cover fire hydrants.  Image Source here 3. Speaking of leaves, if you're selling your home this fall, make sure to k

4 Things I Want to Share With You

Image
Hello and Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing four things with you: something currently going on, something I've noticed, something fun for the season, and a little motivation! 1. Something currently going on... Hurricane Matthew may have dissipated, but the after effects are still very much here.  What should you do after a hurricane?  How can you prepare for an upcoming hurricane?  The American Red Cross has great suggestions on what to do after a hurricane and they even have a Safety Checklist . Hurricane Safety Checklist 2. Something I've noticed... Lately, I've seen a lot of mattresses out for trash pickup.  When's the last time you replaced your mattress?  If it's been 7 or 10 years since you last replaced your mattress and box spring, now may be a good time to look for a new one.  If you're waking up sore and stiff, it may be due to the age of your mattress.  A good mattress will ensure a good night's rest.  If you want some help looking fo

Image
I've mentioned this before a few times in other posts, but one app I enjoy and highly recommend is Nextdoor .  It's an app that allows you to connect with your neighbors. Image Source here Here are 7 categories Nextdoor has that can help you: 1. CRIME & SAFETY - Alert your neighbors if you notice any suspicious activity.  One neighbor sent out an alert letting us know that some kids were out ringing other people's doorbells at 1:00 AM. 2. CLASSIFIEDS - I have seen people create posts looking for a babysitter or offering babysitting/nanny services.  I have also seen other job offerings for those looking to hire.  Neighbors also post items for sale. 3. RECOMMENDATIONS - A lot of people ask for recommendations from doctors and dentists to cell phone carriers to tree and bush pruning to hair stylists to where to dispose of an old mattress. 4. FREE ITEMS - A lot of people will post furniture and either sell them at a low price or offer to donate them. 5. GEN
